By Wannes Rams | 11/7/23 10:14 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Wannes Rams

I was updating a couple of Connections environments to CR4 and some of them are using SSO using OIDC and a custom database name for ICEC ( so not ESSAPPS)

Always get the latest Huddo version in HCL Connections

By Wannes Rams | 1/26/23 3:09 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Wannes Rams

We have documented how to connect to our version, but that documentation is focused on a manual install of Component pack and connecting to our systems from the start. I want to show how to do it if Boards is already installed and running using the automation scripts. You can obviously follow this guide if you did a manual install and connected to the HCL resources, I am just mentioning some specifics about the HCL automation you can ignore.

Migration issue on opnact when using dbt.jar

By Wannes Rams | 1/10/23 9:59 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

While I was migrating a Connections 7 on premises customer to our cloud using the dbt.jar tool, I came across the issue that the OPNACT database did not want to migrate, it threw an error on the OA_NODE table stating that the source table has 38 columns and the target one 37 The column that did not exist on the target was OWNERMEMBERUUID Now the target database is a fresh cnx7 created database from the cnx7 scripts and the creation script does not contain this column. So I started looking through the database scripts to check what happened to that column over time.

How to perform a db2 redirected restore

By Wannes Rams | 1/10/23 9:58 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Sometimes you need to restore db2 databases on a different machine. For example during on prem to cloud migrations, or when moving database servers during an upgrade for Connections. In most cases some of the paths will be different. The LOGPATH is gonna be your main issue. Goal of this post is to show you how to restore the database and change the LOGPATH setting inside the database you are restoring on the fly.

HCL Connections, external user to internal

By Wannes Rams | 10/14/21 4:54 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Matteo Bisi

We all got the request before, a user has been created as an external user and needs to become internal, or an external consultant has been hired and needs to be changed. WARNING! I strongly advise not to change an internal user to an external one. This is a security risk as internal users have access to much content by default and the db2 commands I will provide do not guarantee all will be secured if you perform them in the opposite way. The recommended process here is to delete the user, remove all email address references in your database and recreate a user with a new identifier.

How to find a Wiki and all linked pages in the database

By Wannes Rams | 1/29/19 9:42 AM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

I was struggling to find back deleted / unlinked pages for a wiki for one of our users and wanted to visualise a wiki and all associated pages in the database. Thank you Julian Mosen for pointing me in the right direction on the database design. I used the following SQL Query to list the data I wanted

Run 2 instances of Watson Workspace on Mac

By Wannes Rams | 8/31/18 4:40 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I have multiple IBM id’s, multiple Watson Workspace accounts and that are only the ones that have real information in them, not the test ones. Having to log out and log in all the time is a pain. You can of course run the app with 1 account and then run another one in the browser. But I like using the app better. So I found a way to run multiple instances on my Mac (it’s not perfect, but it’s better than the alternative)

IBM Think 2018, my thoughts

By Wannes Rams | 3/27/18 7:03 AM | Business - Events / People | Added by Oliver Busse

Back from Vegas a couple of days now, adjusted to the time difference and Summer time (almost). Time to reflect on the week I spent at Think. Was it worth it? did I learn new cool things? Did I got reunited with friends I had not seen in a while? Did I meet new friends? But most importantly, did I get the vibe? You know, that sparkle that makes you smile again, the winding up of an old school alarm clock, enough turns to rock a full year, the one that gives you the energy to pull of big projects, take on new things…

Unable to upgrade IBM Content Navigator to FP5

By Wannes Rams | 12/23/15 2:27 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

During a “simple” upgrade of IBM Content Navigator 2.0.3FP2 to FP5 one of my colleagues (Dave) ran into an error even before the installation started. The error stated that the required version of ICN wasn’t installed on the current system.
